The Gathering

Rob: The Gathering captured the visual aspect of the band. We really enjoy it, and there’s a fair amount of jumping around. We could have recorded it anywhere, but then you don’t have the control you’d like, so we spent a lot of time and money on the sound, lights and back projections to get it looking really good. It was a brilliant experience, too. I thought we’d all be really nervous, because we only had one shot at it, even though we shot some footage in the afternoon. In fact, as many people have spotted, there’s a continuity error there, because Martin broke a guitar string, so on one song he’s playing two different guitars. Luckily, the DVD caught us on a high. We’d gigged for 5 weeks before, and it was a really good performance. There were hardly any repairs to be done! There was a really good vibe from the crowd, too. We made sure we had a top-notch PA, the sound was crystal clear, the lights were great, everyone had comfortable seats and could see properly. I think everyone enjoyed it!
