MAGENTA - Classic Rock Society ‘Band Of The Year’ 2005

Without a doubt 2005 has been an interesting year for Magenta with such great events like headlining RosFest USA, the filming of The Gathering DVD and especially breaking in a new bass player (and what a breath of fresh air Dan has been). But winning the ‘Band Of The Year’ award at the Classic Rock Society in Rotherham last week surely must be the 2005 hi-lite for us (and how tall is Fish exactly?). This was truly a great honour firstly, since there are so many great bands out there to choose from, and secondly from an audience who seem to listen to every passing note with an experienced ear or six. Thanks to all of you who voted for us, knowing we have an appreciative audience makes all the hard work worthwhile.

We’re looking forward to playing many more CRS gigs, our only hope is that we can keep building on the standards required – Again, thank you!

So with 2005 nearly at a close it’s time to think about 2006.

It is true to say that Magenta live dates have been few and far between, so it is our aim to increase the number of live dates for 2006 giving more of you the chance to catch us live. As the New Year comes in we will keep you informed on all confirmed dates, with The Point in Cardiff on Friday 20th January being the first one booked so far. This should be an interesting gig as we will be playing lots more new songs from ‘Home’ while some older songs will have to fall be the wayside for the time being.

Anyone who hasn’t had the pleasure of visiting The Point is in for a treat as it really is an awesome venue, and if any of you guys in London can’t wait for a gig closer to home, you might consider travelling to Cardiff on the Megabus where you can pay as little as £1 each way.

We’d love to see you there!

As for the new ‘Home’ CD, it is well on its way to completion and is full of exciting tracks to play that we’re sure will cross over to the live stage as good as the previous albums. We’re currently busy rehearsing new tracks that are coming together to form a challenging set- to say the least. As many of you are aware by now The Gathering DVD is out there and judging by some of the early reviews it seems to be getting a warm welcome - thanks. You can check out some links on the DVD reviews below.

We’ve also a new addition to announce. Allan and his wife have just added to the drums section with the birth of Toby Jazz on 21st of November. We’ll be needing a second tour bus soon!

As with all bands it takes a lot of people to make it work, so we would like to thank all of you that have helped Magenta over this year (and others) – you know who you are. We would especially like to thank various wives, husbands, partners and family members for their support and commitment, without which Magenta would not be able to be the band that it is.

Also thanks for so many of the kind words you sent to our website.

Enjoy the holidays and we’ll see you in 2006!

Take care,

MAGENTA
